GAW are organising a day trip to Yandles on Thursday 11th July 2013.

Coach will depart Hucclecote Rugby Club at 9:00 am.  At Yandles you will have the opportunity to purchase all your timber and sundries.  Also we are hoping for a tour of the wood yard and a demonstration in the afternoon.  Lunch can be taken at the Cedar Tree Coffee shop in Yandles or the coach will be going to a nearby pub for those who would prefer a pub lunch (lunch not included in the price).  Coach should arrive back at the rugby club at approx. 5:00 pm.

The cost is £15 per person and places can be booked and paid for via John Hawkswell.

Next challenge is a Honey Dipper for the July meeting.

The next item to make for the Novice Turner Challenge is a ‘Honey Dipper’.  The plan for the honey dipper can be found under >>Links,  >>Free Project Plans above.  This is not a competition but is designed to assist and improve your woodturning skills by offering constructive feedback.  Please bring your completed Honey Dipper to the July meeting for evaluation and appraisal.

Items are evaluated on :

  • Execution/workmanship
  • Finish
  • Accuracy / Ability to follow plan
  • General appeal
